The city’s official Christmas tree gets lit outside City Hall on Fountain Square Drive, which means the Sylvan Old Auburn Road neighborhood has the big tree in its own front yard. No pressure. If you’d like your house to look like it belongs on the same map, Sylvan Old Auburn Road Christmas light hanging is our line of work, anywhere between Sylvan Corners and Sunrise. Call (916) 510-0929 and describe the place.
SOAR on the map
SOAR is short for Sylvan Old Auburn Road, Neighborhood Area 10 on the city’s list. The borders are Sylvan Road on the west, Old Auburn Road on the north, Sunrise Boulevard on the east and Greenback Lane on the south. The Sylvan Community Center on Community Drive is where the group meets, and the Veterans Community Center on Sylvan Road is in the area too.
SOAR is a city neighborhood association. It charges no dues and writes no decorating rules, and you’re part of it automatically if you live, work or own property here. So on most single-family streets, the date your lights go up is your decision alone.
Two pockets worth knowing about
Not every street in the area is alike. Sunrise Oaks, around Feliciter Way, is a small 1976 tract of compact homes (about 1,079 square feet) with no association fee. On a house that size a little goes a long way. A lit roofline across the front, a wreath and stakes beside the walk, and you’re the best-dressed house on the block without much light at all.
Sunrise Village is different. Those are attached homes from 1980, and listings show an HOA fee, so an association is involved. We haven’t seen its rules and we won’t invent a schedule for it. If you live there, look up what the current rules say about holiday decorations, then phone (916) 510-0929 with the answer, and we’ll set the hang day and the January pickup to suit. With attached homes we also keep cords and clips strictly on your side of the shared wall, and off common-area trees and entry signs.
Karen Rae Court has been busy
The Best Lights in Citrus Heights contest has a repeat offender in this part of town. On Karen Rae Court at Wes Way, one home won Santa’s Favorite (the overall prize) in 2024 while its neighbor took Snow Globe, the inflatables category. In 2025 the court took both categories again. The display covers the whole corner, right down to a mural on the garage door. A home on Rinconada Drive won for its outdoor holiday tree in 2023. Which area those streets belong to is our own guess from the city map, for what it’s worth.
We don’t paint murals. Lights, though, we can do.
Sylvan Old Auburn Road Christmas light hanging, the working parts
Every job starts at the top. Roofline lights clip to the gutters or the roof’s edge, with the clip chosen for the material, and no nail or staple gets near the house. Then we add what the place calls for. A front-yard tree gets a tree wrap, trunk and main branches. Which trees suit it? That’s covered on our tree wrapping page. Porch posts, if you have them, get pillar wraps. Driveways and walks get stake lighting, with the stakes kept clear of sprinkler heads and far enough off the concrete that a tire won’t flatten them. The door or garage gets a lit wreath. The entry or railing gets lit garland.
All of it comes off our truck, timer included. Set once, the lights run themselves until January, when we’re back to strip the house bare. Zero bins for you to store, and zero strands left on the roof in spring.
Quote first, ladder second
Quotes are a phone call, or photos if you prefer, so there’s nothing to arrange at the house. Text or email pictures of the street side, point out the outdoor outlets, and we’ll describe what we’d hang. The number again is (916) 510-0929, and there’s a form on the contact page.
If something stops working during the season, call (916) 510-0929 and we’ll send the truck back. We’re a Citrus Heights crew and we work all four sides of SOAR, including CHASEN across Sunrise Boulevard and Park Oaks south of Greenback. The whole service list is on our main Citrus Heights page.
Things Sylvan Old Auburn Road folks ask
Is SOAR a homeowners association?
No. SOAR is the city’s neighborhood area for the Sylvan and Old Auburn Road part of town. It has no dues and no rules about decorations.
I live in Sunrise Village. Are there rules for lights on attached homes?
Listings show an HOA fee there, so there’s an association, but we haven’t seen its rules. Find the latest version, read us the decoration part, and we’ll keep to it and to your side of any shared wall.
Is a small house in Sunrise Oaks worth having lit by a crew?
Sure. A compact house needs less light to look finished, and you still skip the ladder, the storage and the January chore.
Where is the official Citrus Heights Christmas tree?
Outside City Hall on Fountain Square Drive, which sits inside the SOAR area on the city’s map.
