The second-story gable on a house south of Highway 50 is a long way up, and on a damp December morning it’s slick. That ladder is most of why Rancho Cordova folks call us. We do Rancho Cordova Christmas light hanging from Citrus Heights, straight down Sunrise Boulevard and over the American River, and we bring the tall ladders and a second person to foot them. Two stories and a tall ladder

Most of what we light out here is two stories. The upper gable is what the whole block sees, and it’s also the line that sends homeowners back inside. We set the ladder on level footing, one of us holds it, and the other runs the clips along the eave and up each rake. Taller ladders, slower pace, no drama.

In the Villages of Zinfandel, off Zinfandel Drive, a lot of the houses have a tall front gable over the garage and a second, lower roofline over the entry. Light both and the house looks outlined. Light only the lower one and it looks like we ran out of time. Anatolia is the same story with more HOA streets, so we ask for the guidelines before we quote.

Kavala Ranch is newer, with young trees in the front yards. Instead of wrapping one lonely sapling, we might put the effort into pillar wraps on the porch and stakes lining the driveway. In a few years those trees will be worth a wrap.

The older streets up by the river

Lincoln Village and the other older streets north of 50 are where modern Rancho Cordova started right after the war: single-story homes, plain rooflines and big old trees. Those houses are quick to outline and slow to power. Outside outlets were an afterthought back then, so we work out circuits and cord routes before a single clip goes on. The really sprawling trees sometimes get just the trunk, so the yard doesn’t end up looking like a cat got into the lights.

Rancho Cordova Christmas light hanging, the whole list

Most people start with the roofline. We trace the eaves and the gutter runs, give each peak and gable its own line, and hang every inch on clips. From there, add as much or as little as you like:

    • Tree wraps, trunk only or trunk plus branches, depending on the tree
    • Pillar and column wraps, spiraled up whatever posts hold up your porch
    • Stakes lining the front walk, the driveway or the lawn’s edge, set a few inches off each sprinkler head
    • A lit wreath for the front door or the garage peak
    • Lit garland draped over an entry, a stair railing, an archway or a banister

It all runs on a timer, so the lights wake up at dusk and switch off at bedtime without anybody hunting for a plug. Some of these tracts have HOAs and some don’t, so we check yours first.

Rancho Cordova has plenty of offices, shops and restaurants too, and our commercial lighting page covers that side.

December fixes and the January takedown

Got a stretch that blinks out around the fifteenth? Phone us and it gets handled. Come January, the crew swings by again, unclips the whole display and loads it onto the truck. Nothing lingers on the roof, and nothing lands in your garage next to the lawnmower.

We work Gold River and Folsom all season, so the east end of Rancho Cordova is on our regular loop. Call (916) 510-0929, or send us a picture of that second-story gable through the contact page and we’ll tell you what it takes. Tall roof, short call: (916) 510-0929.
