The palm trees in the Sunrise Boulevard median get their Christmas lights from the Sunrise MarketPlace business district. Your house does not have a business district. It has you, a ladder of uncertain age, and somebody on the lawn saying “be careful” every forty seconds. That’s the gap Birdcage Heights Christmas light hanging fills: our crew shows up with the lights, does the climbing, and returns in January to pack the whole thing out.
Where Birdcage Heights starts and stops
On the city’s map this is Neighborhood Area 11 of Citrus Heights: Greenback Lane on the north, San Juan Avenue on the west, Madison Avenue on the south and Fair Oaks Boulevard on the east. Sunrise Mall and Marketplace at Birdcage sit inside it, and San Juan Park is over on Mariposa Avenue. Cross San Juan Avenue heading west and you’re in Park Oaks, which we also light.
One thing to clear up. “Birdcage Heights” is a neighborhood area set up through the City, not a homeowners association. Nobody pays dues, anybody with a home, a job or a property inside the lines counts as a member, and the group has zero say over your decorating calendar. A condo or townhome complex inside the lines may run its own association. If you’re in one, let (916) 510-0929 know up front, and our two trips get fitted to whatever its current rules allow.
Birdcage Heights Christmas light hanging starts with your photo
A rectangle this size holds every kind of house, so we don’t guess at yours. Text us a picture and tell us what you’ve got. How long is the front eave? Is there a gable over the garage? What’s growing in the yard, and how tall has it gotten?
Then we build from the top down. Roofline lights go on first, clipped along the eaves and up any gable. Not one nail, not one staple. Tree wraps come next, if there’s a tree worth wrapping: trunks take them well, and so do the lower limbs of anything with an open shape. Where a porch has posts or an entry has a pair of columns, pillar wraps dress them up. Stake lighting edges the driveway and the walk, with stakes kept off sprinkler heads and away from the mow strip where they’d get kicked. A lit wreath lands on the door or the garage peak, and lit garland finishes a porch rail if you have one.
A timer runs the show, so the house glows at dusk and goes dark at bedtime while you stay on the couch. If part of it quits, phone it in and we’ll make the repair.
Estimates without a doorbell
Estimates are free and happen by phone, or off photos you text or email. One shot from the sidewalk and a note about what you want lit is plenty to get rolling. The number is (916) 510-0929, or type it all out on the contact page. It’s the same routine we use among the new houses at Mitchell Village and everywhere else on our Citrus Heights home page. And in January we come back, unclip the entire display and drive off with it, and your feet never leave the grass.
Shops and offices near the mall
We hang for businesses too. A storefront or office near Sunrise Mall with a lit roofline and a pair of wreaths stands out in a parking lot full of dark ones. Our commercial light hanging page covers how that side works, and (916) 510-0929 reaches the same crew.
Streets that already put on a show
You’ve got good company. A home on Envoy Way, the dead-end court near Marketplace at Birdcage, was nominated in the Griswold (brightest) category of the city’s lights contest in 2023. Celestial Way won Holiday Village, the best-block category, that same year. And on Farmgate Way near Mariposa Avenue, one house sets out a life-size wooden nativity every December. (Which area a street lands in is our read of the city map, so forgive us if your block claims a different one.)
None of those folks needed permission, and neither do you. If you’d like to be the reason a car slows down on your street, the roofline is where to begin.
Things Birdcage Heights folks ask
Can a Birdcage Heights HOA tell me when to hang Christmas lights?
No such HOA exists. Birdcage Heights is a city neighborhood area, free to join and without decorating rules. Only a condo or townhome complex with its own association would have rules, and we work within those when they apply.
Who puts the lights on the Sunrise Boulevard palm trees?
The Sunrise MarketPlace business district installs those, not the City and not us. We’re glad to wrap a palm trunk in your own yard, though.
I own a condo near Sunrise Mall with its own association. Can you still hang lights?
We can. Read us the decoration section of your complex’s rulebook, and we’ll stick to your unit and stay off common-area trees and entry signs unless the association itself brings us in.
Do you need to see my house to quote Birdcage Heights Christmas light hanging?
No. A couple of photos and a phone call cover it. Say which parts should glow and point out your outdoor outlets.
