Woodmore Oaks holds its National Night Out at the 7-Eleven on Woodmore Oaks Drive. We mean that as the highest praise. A neighborhood that throws its block party at the 7-Eleven doesn’t need a committee to say when the reindeer can go on the lawn, and it doesn’t have one. For Woodmore Oaks Christmas light hanging there’s no HOA and no approval form. There’s your house, and there are our ladders.

A neighborhood with one foot in each town

Woodmore Oaks straddles the Citrus Heights and Orangevale line along Woodmore Oaks Drive, by Fair Oaks Boulevard. We’re a Citrus Heights crew, so you’re about as local as a job gets for us. The streets include Woodmore Oaks Drive itself, Ruthwood Way, Lakewood Way, Donnawood Way and Dart Way, with Tempo Community Park over on the Citrus Heights side.

The homes were built between 1965 and 1980, with three to five bedrooms and somewhere between about 1,000 and 2,000 square feet. Houses from those years were made for Christmas lights, even if nobody planned it that way.

Roofline before anything else. If your roof is a plain shape, good, because plain is easy to outline: roofline lights across the front eaves and up the gable show from the corner. Everything hangs from clips. No nails, no staples, and no screws into fifty-year-old fascia boards that have earned their retirement.

What comes after depends on what’s out front, so send a photo. A tree gets our opinion first and a wrap second, trunk and main limbs, if it’s a good candidate. Porch posts get pillar wraps. Stake lighting goes beside the driveway and across the front bed, placed so no sprinkler head gets speared. A lit wreath suits the door, the garage, or the chimney face if there is one, and our wreath hanging page shows where they look best. Lit garland finishes the front door frame or a porch rail.

Older houses can be short on outdoor outlets. Let us know where yours are, and the cords get planned around them. A timer does the rest, lighting things up at dusk and shutting them off without help from you.

No HOA in Woodmore Oaks, with one footnote

Listings for Woodmore Oaks show no association fee, and what the neighborhood has in place of an HOA is an active Neighborhood Watch. So the calendar belongs to you. Early, late, your call. That call goes to (916) 510-0929. (We still collect everything in January, because by then you’ll want your roof back.)

The footnote: the Sunrise Homeowners Association, a separate group of just over two hundred houses sharing a pool at Stone Canyon Circle, sits close by on the Citrus Heights side. That one is a real HOA. If your home is part of it, check what its rules currently say and we’ll work inside them. We cover that side of the line on our CHASEN neighborhood page.

    Photos do the talking

No meeting required. Call (916) 510-0929 and describe the front to us, or text a few photos and say which parts should light up. You’ll hear back with a plan and a quote. There’s also a form on the contact page. If a section quits while the display is up, the same line gets it fixed, and when we pull the display the lights leave with us, so your garage rafters stay empty until next year.

Orangevale’s famous court sets the mood

Elsewhere in Orangevale, Dovewood Court has been running its “Parade of Lights” for decades. Every home on the court decorates. CBS13 counted 18 houses and estimated 90,000 visitors, and reported that some residents begin programming their lights to music in June. June! We admire it. We also think there’s room in this town for a house that looks great without a six-month head start. That’s the kind we build: clean lines, tidy cords, finished in one trip.

We work all over Orangevale, plus Citrus Heights and Fair Oaks next door. To get on the list, it’s (916) 510-0929.

    Things Woodmore Oaks folks ask

Who decides when lights go up in Woodmore Oaks?

You do. Listings show no association fee, and the neighborhood runs a Neighborhood Watch, not an HOA. The one exception is a home that belongs to the separate Sunrise Homeowners Association nearby.

Does Woodmore Oaks Christmas light hanging cover the Citrus Heights side of Woodmore Oaks Drive?

Yes. We’re based in Citrus Heights and work both sides of the city line, so the address doesn’t change a thing.

Is Dovewood Court part of Woodmore Oaks?

No. Dovewood Court is a separate Orangevale street known for its Parade of Lights. We bring it up because it’s the best-known display in town.

Can the fascia on a 1960s house handle Christmas lights?

Yes. The clips hang from the gutter or shingle edge and carry very little weight, and no fasteners go into the wood.
